Chemical-Resistant Sealing Options

Available with O-ring seal materials selected to match the chemicals being pumped, ensuring long-term compatibility and performance.

How an Inline Poppet Check Valve Works

A poppet check valve uses a guided, linear “straight-shooting” valve element. Unlike swing or floating designs, the poppet moves in a controlled, in-line path. This guided motion delivers precision, repeatability, and a clean shutoff.

When forward pressure exceeds the valve’s cracking pressure (commonly available in 2 lb or 10 lb options), the poppet lifts off its seat to allow flow. When pressure drops or reverses, the valve closes quickly to prevent backflow.

Because the poppet is spring-assisted and not gravity dependent, it provides consistent performance in horizontal or vertical installations.

Poppet Check Valve FAQs

What is a poppet check valve?

A poppet check valve is a type of inline check valve that uses a movable poppet (disc or plug) to allow flow in one direction and automatically seal when flow reverses. It protects pumps and systems from backflow and pressure loss.

When should I use an inline poppet check valve?

Inline poppet check valves are ideal in chemical injection and metering systems where maintaining consistent flow direction and pressure is critical. They are commonly used in water treatment, agriculture, chemical processing, and energy applications.

How do I choose the right poppet valve material?

Material selection depends on:

  • Chemical compatibility
  • System pressure and flow rate
  • Presence of abrasives
  • Temperature conditions

JAECO offers multiple material options, including PVC, stainless steel, and exotic alloys, to ensure long-term durability and compatibility with your specific application. If you’re unsure, our team can help evaluate your system requirements and recommend the right configuration.
