How an Inline Spring Check Valve Works

A spring check valve uses a spring-loaded internal element (either a ball or a poppet) to control flow direction. In ball-style valves, the spring pushes the ball against the seat to prevent backflow. In poppet-style valves, the spring forces a guided disc against an O-ring to create a tight seal. When upstream pressure exceeds the cracking pressure (2 lb. or 10 lb.), the valve opens to allow flow. When pressure drops or reverses, the spring quickly returns the sealing element to its seat, preventing reverse flow. This pressure-assisted design provides:
